South Florida Business Journal - 4:16 PM EDT Wednesday, March 14, 2007 - Citrix Systems said it has bought a Scottish company that owns technology that can improve the way Citrix products work. The Fort Lauderdale-based computer networking firm said the program, from privately held ThinGenius Ltd., of Edinburgh, will provide a load-testing solution for any application delivery infrastructure that uses a Citrix (NASDAQ: CTXS) protocol. Such products allow users to remotely access their computers from other computers. The testing is needed because as the distance grows between computer users and their applications, Citrix said it takes more control to deliver each application. "Desktops, Web applications and Windows applications each require a different set of technologies for optimal delivery and user experience," the company explained. Citrix said adding the TLoad product from ThinGenius will allow businesses to determine how Citrix product configurations will cope with high levels of user load. The company said that will help them identify and remove performance bottlenecks before putting systems into production. The company said the product also will help its clients eliminate risks associated with system changes - a potentially important issue as they upgrade to Windows Vista. Citrix would not disclose financial terms of its purchase. Shares closed up 34 cents to $31.56. The 52-week high was $45.50 on May 8. The 52-week low was $26.10 on Jan. 3. |
