Sample ImageThe PS 4 to 4.5 update seminar is for the large user base of clients that have already attended previous UNITEK-CITRIX training events, and are planning to upgrade to the latest version of Citrix. Version 4.5 includes several significant additions to the Presentation Server, the de-facto standard for delivering applications at the lowest cost and with the maximum security.

Our custom 2-day seminar assumes familiarity with version 4 additions, (though questions are always welcome), and launches directly into the new features, with hands-on labs provided for the students on dual-machine labs, where they will each use a Presentation Server as well as a Windows XP workstation, in order to "stream" applications to the desktop.

Day one will cover new features: IMA encryption; support for SQL 2005 and SQL 2005 Express, with migration paths from MSDE; "management console spelunking" in the new management interfaces, ICA client version 10, the new License Management Console and License Server, Administrative Configuration Logging to a centralized, encrypted SQL database, Health Monitoring and Recovery (automated server recovery, end-to-end visibility into application usage and performance, SpeedScreen Progressive Display (accelerates remote usage of graphic-intense applications), and AIE 2.0, the next generation of Application Isolation environments, also leveraged in Citrix Application Streaming.

Day two of the seminar will dive into the Application Streaming component, streaming applications to Presentation Servers, as well as to clients, and signing the streamed profiles with an internal Certificate Authority. Finally the Platinum feature called Citrix EdgeSight will be installed and configured on a SQL 2005 server, for end-to-end monitoring and reporting on the performance of the Citrix farm.
