The CCIA (Citrix Certified Integration Architect) is one of the most valuable technical certifications offered by Citrix Systems Inc., the world leader in access infrastructure solutions. The CCIA certification attests that individuals have acquired the conceptual knowledge and practical skills needed for successful architectural design and integration using Citrix technologies and products. Unlike other certifications offered by Citrix, the advanced CCIA certification actually corroborates design and architectural knowledge with project implementation expertise, being equally appropriate for system integrators and architects. The CCIA also certifies that the holders have a good level of technical knowledge and expertise of deployment tasks in various IT architecture environments, required for deployments of the Citrix MetaFrame Access Suite.

Compared to the CCEA (Citrix Certified Enterprise Administrator) certification, which is focused entirely on implementation and support of MetaFrame Access Suite, the CCIA certification also requires expertise in planning and preparation, crucial for proper MetaFrame Access Suite implementation. Careful planning can substantially reduce deployment costs and implementation time while also ensuring that the deployment is efficient and competitive.

In order to obtain the CCIA certification, you need to validate your skills by passing the following three core examinations: exam 223 or one of the compatible alternates – 220, 221, 222 – the same requirement for obtaining the CCA (Citrix Certified Administrator) certification and a section of the core CCEA certification; exam 610 - Citrix Core Technologies and Architecture – no alternates are currently available for this exam; exam 611 – Citrix Design, Integration and Methodology – also without alternate exam.

In addition to other certifications offered by Citrix, the CCIA certification also requires you to pass one Microsoft design from the following six exams that are currently available: exam 70-219 – Designing a Microsoft Windows 2000 Directory Services Infrastructure; exam 70-220 – Designing Security for a Microsoft Windows 2000 Network; exam 70-221 – Designing a Microsoft Windows 2000 Network Infrastructure; exam 70-226 – Designing a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Active Directory and Network Infrastructure; and finally, exam 70-298 – Designing Security for a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network. Once you pass the required exams mentioned above, you must accept the conditions of the CCIA certification agreement and take the final exam – 612 Citrix Certified Integration Architect Lab, which is divided in two sections - one written and one practical.

It is very important to note that the CCIA certification is one of the most difficult to obtain certifications provided by Citrix. The specific certification track is very rigorous and candidates should also expect a lot of competition to obtaining the CCIA certification. Thus, in order to ensure that you will be able not only to pass the required exams, but also obtain high scores, it is crucial to take the exams when you feel that you are well-prepared and have a good level of experience in the field. A very good method of acquiring the conceptual knowledge, practical skills and hands-on experience required for obtaining the CCIA certification is to attend to a complete training program offered by an official CCIA training school.
